busan stories (seeing red on cinco de mayo)

it was cinco de mayo yesterday.

i was delightfully surprised when my company announced that they were going to have some refreshments in our conference area to celebrate the occasion. when i first got there, i was kinda confused because they had one table labeled "cabo with wabo" and another "cabo without wabo". everyone was at the "cabo with wabo" table so i got a glass from there. it was margarita and i thought, "oh, how nice of them". then i tasted it. it had real alcohol. totally legit. 100% alcohol. this i knew cause i didn't eat much for lunch so i started to get a little warm... then a little red. i felt it coming on so i didn't finish my drink and immediately go for another one like normal. i was on asian-man syndrome alert. i've looked drunk at a company function before and it's no fun when your co-workers think you're a leper. so i got some quesadillas, taquitos and went back upstairs to stare at my screen.

i learned that cinco de may really isn't mexican independence day. that's actually september 15. cinco de mayo celebrates the day when the spanish army left mexico 11 years later.
